Pout Perfection - Our Essential Lip Care Tips for Your Whistler Wedding Day

Your wedding day is a beautiful celebration of love, unity and joy, and we want to ensure you'll feel both comfortable and confident with your wedding makeup, from the first look and ceremony, all the way to the last dance!

Your lip condition might not top of your wedding to-do list, but it definitely deserves a place on the list. By making sure you have the right lip care routine in advance of your wedding, alongside some essential lip products for the big day itself, you'll be all set and ready to relax and kiss your partner, sip on champagne, and smile for countless photos with confidence and grace!

Here are some essential lip care tips and product advice to help you achieve that picture-perfect pout on your wedding day:

1. Start with Hydration:

Begin your lip care routine a few weeks in advance by keeping your lips super hydrated in the lead up to your wedding day. Drink plenty of filtered water and remember to use SPF on your lips whenever you're in the sun for an extended period of time. I also highly recommend using a top quality lip balm, lip oil or mask frequently, in the two weeks leading up to your wedding day, to keep your lips extra soft and smooth. Apply balms or masks overnight too, for added benefit.

2. Exfoliate Gently:

Smooth lips provide the perfect canvas for us to apply your wedding day liner and lipstick. If your lips are on the drier side, incorporate gentle lip exfoliation into your skincare routine, especially 2-3 days leading up to the wedding. You can make a DIY lip scrub using sugar and honey or choose a ready-made exfoliating lip scrub to slough off any dry, flaky skin.

3. Choosing the Right Lipstick:

Selecting the right lipstick is crucial for your wedding day and that's where we come in - supplying a range of the best, long-lasting lip colour options for you on your special day. We opt for long-wearing formulas that won't budge through kisses, drinks and hours of smiling for photos. We'll find a shade that you'll love, complimenting your skin tone and matching your wedding beauty vibes. Realistically, on fully hydrated lips, the colour should last for 3-4 hours (or until you eat) before you may need a lip touch up.

4. Touch-Up Essentials:

To avoid unnecessary plastic packaging and waste, we don't supply lip touch up kits as standard. Instead, I encourage all my brides to treat themselves to some lip products to have on standby in their wedding day makeup bag, which can then enjoy continued use after the wedding.

Here are some of my 'Wedding Day Touch Up' favourites that work for many of our brides. The shades given below are the most popular for wedding makeup on fair and medium skin tones. I would suggest using this as your starting guide and trying out some shades for yourself, at your local Shoppers Drug Mart or Sephora.

Lastly, and most importantly - remember to relax, smile and enjoy your wedding day! A genuine smile is by far the best beauty accessory, and adding in these lip care tips, you can confidently showcase your radiant smile throughout your wedding festivities.

Wishing you all the best with your wedding planning!
